6th Scientific Exhibition for Innovations and Research Concludes -1-

In the Baheth competition, Rawda Bint Jassim Secondary School for Girls won the first place in the secondary stage for a research on creating a nano-smart bandage from plant materials from the Qatari environment to treat wounds; while Al Iman Secondary School for Girls won the second place for a research on a remote weather monitoring device; and Qatar School of Science and Technology won the third place for a research on a smart robotic farm.

In the preparatory stage, Khalid bin Ahmed Preparatory School for Boys won the first place for a research on the effectiveness of recycled glass; Roqaya Preparatory School for Girls won the second place for a research on comparison between vegetative propagation for fig plants; and Hind Bint Amr Al-Ansaria School won the third place for a research on the use of optical fibers to provide the light energy required for plant growth in vertical farming.

In the primary stage, Maymouna Primary School for Girls won the first the place for a research on a school building design applying the ideas of ecological design; Abdulla bin Turki School won the second place for a research on an appellative application; and Al Huda Primary School for Girls won the third place for a research on an algorithm to design smart school application.

Executive Director of Qatar Scientific Club Eng. Rashid Al Rahimi honored the first-place winning researches in the Ibtikar competition, while Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs Fatma Al Mohannadi, and Scientific Research Specialist at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Mahmoud Mansi honored the first-places winning and gold medals in the Baheth competition.

The Baheth and Ibtikar competitions fall under the scientific programs and events presented by Qatar Scientific Club in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Commenting on Ibtikar competition, Eng. Rashid Al Rahimi noted the objectives of the competition which include promoting a culture of innovation and practical and scientific application of the steps to implement the prototype, allowing students to provide appropriate scientific solutions, discovering and supporting distinguished and talented from schools, in addition to providing a scientifically appropriate environment for conducting research activities and transforming ideas into applicable models He added that the competition has achieved the objectives set for it, and the innovations that were presented in the exhibition are evidence of that, and an indication that bodes well for a promising future for the students in the field of research and innovation.

Al Rahimi praised the constant cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in this field, and valued the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth for this initiative, which serves the students and the educational process in general.

Fatma Al Mohannadi said that the Ibtikar competition seeks to promote a culture of innovation, encourages students to be creative and develops their abilities in order to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 and the knowledge-based economy.

She added that Baheth competition is being held for the sixth year in a row, explaining that it is a scientific research competition launched by Qatar Scientific Club in the year 2017/2018, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

She added that the competition is directed to secondary and preparatory school students, as well as fifth and sixth grades students in the primary stage; noting that more than 150 scientific papers by 240 students from 74 schools participated in this years edition, of which 119 papers qualified for the final stage.
