Ankara, The Turkish authorities said the arrest and rescue of 93 illegal immigrants off the coast of Izmir Province, west of the country.
The Turkish Coast Guard Command said in a statement on Tuesday that teams were sent to rescue migrants after they were spotted on a rubber boat off the coast of Menderes district.
The statement noted that 19 migrants were rescued, including 3 children, who were on board the boat drifting at sea, and the teams also rescued 31 migrants who were on board a rubber boat whose engine broke down off the coast of Dikili district.
The Turkish Coast Guard Command added that its teams seized 43 migrants, including two children, on board a rubber boat that was spotted off the shores of Cemme, noting that it transferred the migrants to the Immigration Directorate in the state to take the necessary measures.
The Turkish borders with Bulgaria and Greece, and the Turkish shores, were witnessing an increasing number of illegal immigrants who take the land or sea route to reach a Europea
n country, while the Turkish security forces were working to prevent attempts to infiltrate across its borders.
