Akbar Al Baker: Qatar continues to develop tourism and travel industry

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive and Chairman of Qatar Tourism, Akbar Al-Baker, underlined that the State of Qatar will continue to develop the travel and tourism industry, and achieve integration across the sector to increase efficiency and contribute to achieving the comprehensive development defined by Qatar National Vision 2030.

In a statement marking the World Tourism Day which falls on September 27 of each year, Al-Baker said, "Today, the world celebrates World Tourism Day under the slogan 'Tourism for Inclusive growth'. This recognizes the benefit the tourism industry brings to the global economy, as it touches many parts of the nation. The approval of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the establishment of Qatar Tourism reaffirms the importance of the tourism industry for the future of the State of Qatar."

Al-Baker added that the tourism industry saw many major challenges in the past, which have had a great impact on the way tourism and travel work. Despite the recent slowdown in tourism and travel, which has reached a halt, the tourism sector in Qatar used the period to serve as a preparation period for the return of visitors, in light of the unlimited support of the wise leadership of Qatar.
