The two-year-old LOST IN SPACE (Dark Angel) landed his second victory in the Close Brothers Motor Finance Nursery Handicap by a one-length margin at Newmarket on Saturday, 29 August. He is owned by Qatar Racing Limited and this race was his fifth start of the season. The last time out, two weeks ago, the John Gosden-trained colt won a novice race over the same distance (7 furlongs) at Lingfield.
Ridden by Cieren Fallon, on soft ground, LOST IN SPACE led and was running quite freely. Under the pressure of ZOFFARELLI (Zoffany), the jockey had to use the whip two times. The colt responded generously and he easily secured his second straight victory. ZOFFARELLI finished second, six and a half lengths ahead of the third, ET TU BRUTE (Holy Roman Emperor).
LOST IN SPACE was bred by Mountarmstrong Stud and bought by David Redvers at Tattersalls in December 2019. By the famous DARK ANGEL (Acclamation), a speed influence stallion, he is the brother of ALKASSER (Shamardal), winner of the Power EBF Tetrarch Stakes (L). The second dam produced two fast horses; namely, the filly ANTHEM ALEXANDER (Starspangledbanner), winner of the Queen Mary Stakes (Gr2) and the stallion DANDY MAN (Mozart), winner of the Stan James Palace House Stakes (Gr3).
