MAJD AL ARAB impresses at Chelmsford for Mohammed Bin Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah

Making his debut on the all-weather having after three outings on the turf MAJD AL ARAB (The Gurkha x Celtic Filly) landed an impressive four and a half length victory for owner Mohammed Bin Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah in the tote Placepot Your First Bet Median Auction Stakes, a race for two-year-olds at Chemsford on Thursday, 3 September, evening. MAJD AL Arab, who shares the same name as the famous Purebred Arabian Stallion, is trained by Mark Johnston and was ridden on this occasion by jockey Franny Norton.

MAJD AL ARAB chased the leader OPEN THE EAGLE (Anjaal) throughout the early stages of the 1,400m contest, travelling easily in his action. Appreciating the switch to the all-weather, the bay colt was asked to extend his stride by Norton as the field raced out of the home turn. MAJD AL ARAB closed down the longtime leader with ease, going on to a land a very comfortable success from HARRIER HAWK (Harzand) who finished second.

MAJD AL ARAB was bred by Mohammed Bin Hamad Khalifa Al-Attiyah and is a son of the Coolmore stallion THE GURKHA (Galileo). His dam is the sister of the Listed winner DOLPHIN VISTA (Zoffany).
