The ICT Governance Committee held its 62nd meeting virtually, chaired by Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).
The committee discussed the projects and purchase requests submitted by the government entities, which are of an estimated cost of BD 6 million.
The meeting reviewed a number of topics on the agenda, including the project of developing official websites for Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), which focuses on reinforcing Bahrain's online presence as a tourism destination. The project also includes the development of a mobile app to provide a better user experience and wider audience.
The committee also discussed the data warehouse project of the National Bureau for Revenue (NBR), which relies on modern technologies and big data to perform deep analysis on revenue data, as well as supporting decision-making, provide proactive corrective actions and analytical insights.
They also discussed the revamp of Expatriate Management System (EMS) project, which focuses on improving system integration with other government systems, as well as automating and improving many business processes, in addition to improving the user interface and experience.
The EMS is one of the main systems at the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) that provides essential services for employers at the labor market, such as applying for new work permits, permit renewals, change of expatriate profession, and other transactions related to employers.
During the meeting, the committee also discussed the Bahrain Polytechnic project related to equipping computer laboratories with a range of high-performance computers that are compatible with the requirements of specialized courses in artificial intelligence (AI), big data and electronic game development as part of the Polytechnic's preparations for the upcoming academic year.
They also discussed the Ministry of Works’ Road Information Modeling project (BIM), as part of the ministry's plans and continuous efforts to increase work efficiency aiming at improving road planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
The committee concluded the meeting by discussing a set of projects and purchase requests related to information technology systems and services in a number of government entities.
