His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, led today the UAE delegation to the emergency GCC Summit, called for by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, to look into the latest developments and threats besetting the region.
The GCC leaders will conduct consultations on the current challenges and seek to coordinate their stances towards their impacts on the region's security and stability
"The UAE, where the Gulf Cooperation Council was established in 1981, has always been keen, since the era of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to make all possible efforts toward consolidating joint Arab Gulf action in a way that ensures security, stability, welfare and prosperity for the peoples of the Arab Gulf region," said Sheikh Mohamed in remarks marking the ongoing emergency GCC Summit in Makkah.
He hailed the call of the Saudi King for coordinating Gulf stances and visions toward the developments the Arab and Gulf region is going through at present.
"This noble call by the 'King of Determination and Resolve' re-affirms the pioneering role played by Saudi Arabia in leading the joint Arab Gulf action, and translates the Saudi leadership's determination to ensure security and stability in our Gulf region," he added.
"The recent developments witnessed by the Arab region, specifically the acts of sabotage against commercial vessels in UAE's territorial waters and the terrorist acts on two pumping stations in Saudi Arabia, along with the escalating crises and negative interferences into Arab affairs by some regional parties that don't wish neither stability nor prosperity for the peoples of the region, along with the menacing threats posed by forces of extremism and darkness - all these developments underline the importance of adopting a concerted action against these menaces in a responsible and determined manner that ensures security and stability in this vital region of the world."
Sheikh Mohamed stressed that the UAE is wholeheartedly standing by the Saudi Arabia in all its attempts to unify ranks in response to besetting dangers and menacing threats with the ultimate goal of achieving peace, prosperity and stability.
