Speaking to officials affiliated with World Health Organization (WHO), HE Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, has presented a general review of the State of Qatar’s plan to contain and curb the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This mainly focused on the phases of tracing people who have been in contact with infected cases, isolating those people, conducting checkups and then providing necessary medical treatments within the framework of the process of breaking the series of disease transmission. The State of Qatar has been internationally praised thanks to the efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in view of the declining death rates in the State, compared to other countries of the world.
During a conference held via virtual network, which is the third plenary meeting organized by the WHO and in the presence of HE Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari, HE the Minister focused on the efforts of international assistance provided by the State of Qatar pertaining to confronting the COVID-19.
The Minister of Public Health also said that tens of thousands of COVID-19 checkups have been conducted. She explained that the strategy adopted by the State of Qatar mainly focuses on conducting checkups, and tracing and testing people who have been in contact with infected cases. Therefore, this has led to identifying a large number of infected cases, among of which are cases without visible symptoms. Moreover, this comes within the strategy aiming to determine the extent of the spread of the disease.
