Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, received Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, at the Al Safriya Palace today.
The minister briefed His Majesty on updates regarding projects aimed at preserving the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities, restoring Isa Al Kabeer Palace and development work in Muharraq to maintain its identity, in implementation of the orders of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The briefing focused on the executive plan for the project, which aims to transform an area of 1.4 million square meters. The plan includes implementing and renovating 2,000 housing units, providing 72 green spaces covering 12,000 square meters, planting 100,000 trees, and developing 48 kilometers of movement routes.
His Majesty the King commended the minister and all employees of the ministry for their efforts in implementing various housing projects across the Kingdom, preserving the cultural and historical identity of its
cities and buildings, and working to develop the city of Muharraq.
His Majesty the King emphasised the significance of the city of Muharraq, praising its people and their dedication to serving the country, and hoping that they would return to their hometown. His Majesty lauded its pivotal role in Bahrain’s history and the richness of its culture and heritage.
In this regard, His Majesty commended the Pearl Path, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the heart of Muharraq, which is a testament to Bahrain’s historical and cultural identity and the cultural, economic, and social value of the pearling industry.
His Majesty the King emphasised the commitment to the development of various cities and villages in Bahrain, with the ultimate goal of ensuring the comfort and well-being of Bahraini citizens. HM the King emphasised that the Kingdom places importance on enhancing and sustaining the requirements of a decent standard of living for all Bahrainis.

His Majesty for his directives, emphasising that this crucial project will proceed as per His Majesty’s orders.
The minister stated that in accordance with the instructions of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to initiate a plan to preserve the Kingdom’s historical and cultural identity and to launch the Muharraq City development plan during his visit to Muharraq Governorate in October, a comprehensive action plan was developed involving multiple government agencies.
The minister said that the Muharraq City development plan has made significant progress, including the launch of a construction guideline, the appointment of a consultancy firm, the construction of housing units, and the acquisition of properties within the development areas.
The minister emphasised the government’s commitment to implementing the Muharraq City Development Plan according to the timeline, in line with the orders of His Majesty the King and the directives of His Royal High
ness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to meet the aspirations of the people of Muharraq Governorate.
