Doha, Qatar, The Human Nutrition Department in the College of Health Sciences at Qatar University organized, with the sponsorship of the Qatar National Research Fund, the international workshop on Public Health Implications of Dietary Amines.
The workshop included different distinguished national, regional and international experts who presented the prevalence, complications, indications and the new detection methods of dietary amines. Speakers highlighted the foods rich in dietary amines and discussed the relation between dietary amines and cancer disease, biogenic amines and histamine intoxications. They also provided updated researches and studies on nutrition management of food sensitivities, technological and biotechnological control of biogenic amines in food, and impact of food processing on the formation of heterocyclic amines and risk of cancer. The workshop was concluded by providing a list of recommendations by Dr. Tahra El-Obeid, Head of Human Nutrition Department in Qatar University.
Many dietitians and health care providers attended the workshop from different institutions including Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Municipality, Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, Qatar National Research Fund, Georgetown University, and other private health and education centers.
The workshop was accredited by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners-Accreditation department.
