The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced the discounted consumer goods list for the holy month of Ramadan 2022. The list includes more than 800 commodities and the discount, applied in co-ordination with all major consumer complexes, comes into effect on Wednesday 23 March, 2022, and continues until the end of Ramadan.
The annual initiative comes in line with the Ministry’s goal to meet citizens and residents’ increased consumer goods requirements at reduced prices during Ramadan.The list of discounted consumer goods cover all essential goods needed during the holy month, including flour, sugar, rice, pasta, chicken, oil, milk and other food items, in addition to non-food commodities such as paper napkins, tin foil (aluminum foil), various detergents and washing powders, as well as other commodities consumed in large quantities during Ramadan.
The list of discounted consumer goods has been circulated among major consumer complexes across the country. Consumers can view the list of discounted consumer goods on MoCI’s website and on its social media pages.
The Ministry has underlined the need to adhere to the specified prices until the end of Ramadan, and further affirmed that it will intensify inspection campaigns to crack down on violators, who will be referred to the competent authorities to take appropriate measures to protect consumer rights.
MoCI has also stressed the need for community participation in reporting violations of the prices defined by the Ministry. Complaints and suggestions can be raised via the following channels: call centre – 16001; Twitter – @MOCIQATAR; and Instagram – MOCIQATAR.
