Chaired by HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Cabinet decided to do the following during the regular meeting held yesterday via videoconferencing:
1- Revoking its issued decision regarding closing shops and stopping all commercial activities on Friday and Saturday of each week.
2 – This decision shall be effective from Thursday, 9 July 2020.
The Cabinet also approved a draft resolution of HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs regarding determining the ratio of Qataris to non-Qataris working in the private sector.
The draft resolution comes in implementation of the provisions of the Labor Law promulgated by Law No. (14) of the year 2004, and it seeks to raise the percentage of Qataris working at state-owned companies, or at companies in which the state has shares to 60%.
It also includes other entities that are subject to the Law on Retirement and Pensions. It also aims at raising the percentage of Qataris in human resources departments to 80% in these entities. Children of Qatari women are treated as Qataris when calculating the localization ratio.
The entities referred to are banned from appointing non-Qataris in jobs allocated by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, for localization.
