Qatari Beach Volleyball Team wins Silver Medal in Sochi World Tour Championship

SOCHI, Russia - The Qatari beach volleyball team, consisting of duo Sherif Yunus and Ahmed Tejan, won the silver medal for the 4-star Sochi World Tour Championship, which concluded today in Russia with the participation of 62 teams from 27 countries.

The Qatari team clinched the silver after finishing second, after losing in the final match (1/2) to Poland, which consisted of Piotr Kantor and Bartuch Luciak.

The Qatari national team is the third seed in this tournament, due to its seventh place in the world with a score of 5280 points, according to the latest classification of the International Beach Volleyball Federation (FIVB). It is also guaranteed to qualify for the next postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Qatari team also participated in this tournament after winning the gold medal for the third round of the Cancun World Championship, which was held in Mexico, from three rounds, in which it won the silver medal in the first and second rounds.

The national team is looking forward to progressing in the world rankings of national teams through its participation in the current Russian Sochi and Czech Ostrava rounds, which will be held at the beginning of next June, before their next participation in the Olympic Games.

It is reported that the winner of the Sochi tour gets 800 points in the international classification, the second place winner with 720 points, the third place with 640 points, and the fourth place with 560 points.
