Localization of the Teaching Profession by 80% within Five Years

HE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), revealed that the Ministry seeks to localize the teaching profession by 80% during the next five years, stressing MOEHE's interest in training national cadres in the educational field.

HE stated that the Ministry would try to fill the vacancies by self-relying, national cadres as much as possible, so that the percentage of teachers recruited from abroad decreases to 20% in the future, for the purpose of identifying the needs that are specified to some rare specializations, particularly in special education, mathematics, and information technology, which do not witness an internal demand from university students, whether citizens or residents.

Al Nuaimi added that the College of Education graduates 500 graduates annually, and if the Ministry is able to attract them to work in schools, in addition to graduates of Tomouh program and graduates of Arts and Sciences, if they were trained within Tamheen program, and whose number ranges from 200 to 300 graduates annually, then the actual annual needs will be covered.
