The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets US Special Envoy on Yemen

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today in Washington with HE United States Special Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking.

The meeting dealt with reviewing bilateral cooperation and the latest developments in the region, particularly in Yemen.

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated during the meeting that the only way to resolve the Yemeni crisis is through negotiations between Yemenis based on the outcomes of the national dialogue, the GCC initiative, and UN resolutions, particularly resolution no. 2216. His Excellency stressed the State of Qatar's firm position on the unity of Yemen.

For his part, HE the United States Special Envoy for Yemen thanked the State of Qatar for allocating $100 million to support the efforts of the UN's World Food Programme efforts in Yemen to support food security, stop famine in Yemen, and support the UN's urgent food and humanitarian programmes to prevent further deterioration of tragic conditions there.
