Director of Media and Communication Department at Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Qatar and France’s Second Strategic Dialogue Covered Strategic Relationship

Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hashmi said that the second strategic dialogue held between Qatar and France covered the strategic relationship between the two amiable countries, as well as the outputs of the working groups of the strategic dialogue.

The dialogue also touched on the latest regional and international developments, most notably Palestine, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

In the weekly media briefing that is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al Hashemi said that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani headed the delegation of Qatar at the ministerial meeting of the strategic partnership between the GCC countries and the US, which was held at the General Secretariat in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He affirmed that the meeting discussed ways to strengthen the strategic relationship between the GCC countries and the US, in addition to the latest regional and international developments, especially in regard to Palestine, Yemen, Sudan and Syria.

The Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that His Excellency's meeting with HE US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting, discussed the strategic relationship between Qatar and the US, the possible cooperation between the two friendly countries and the prospects of the development of the relationship. During the meeting, the two parties also exchanged views regarding the most important and current regional and international issues of common interest.

In another context, Al Hashemi said that HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi will be heading the delegation of Qatar during its participation in the 7th Brussels Conference on "Supporting the future of Syria and the region," which will be held on Thursday.

He also noted that the activities of the United Nations regional center for combating cybercrime will launch in Qatar in the next two months. This comes after Qatar and the UN's Office on Drugs and Crime signed the supplementary agreement to establish the center during HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi's visit to Vienna this week.

He explained that the launch of the center in Doha is considered to be an added achievement to the already established centers of international organizations that have opened in the UN's House in Qatar. This enhances Qatar's growing role in supporting multilateral diplomacy and advances the UN's pillars, he added.

Director of Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Sultan Al Hashmi also discussed the ministry's efforts in the past days, which included interviews conducted by Qatari officials in the country and abroad and were aimed to strengthen the relationship between other countries and discuss cooperation in different areas and ways to enhance and develop them.
