Dhaka, At least 10 people died in a severe heat wave that has struck large parts of Bangladesh since last week. Salem Rayhan, an official at the Office of the General Administration of Health Services in Bangladesh, said in statements on Tuesday that three people were confirmed dead Monday, and at least seven others have died since Apr. 22. For its part, the local meteorological department confirmed that the country is facing the longest heat wave ever, noting that these abnormal climate changes began since last Mar. 31, and are expected to end in the last hours of this day. It should be noted that the United Nations had confirmed, in its latest climate report in 2023, that parts of South and Southeast Asia, including Bangladesh, the Philippines and Nepal, are among the regions most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, as their countries are facing severe heat waves and hurricanes.
