The State of Qatar chaired the first meeting of the Air Transport Committee (ATC) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council in its 233rd session, which was held in Montreal, Canada. Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to ICAO Essa Abdulla Al Malki represented the State of Qatar at the meeting. The ATC, a subsidiary body of the council, is responsible for providing advice and recommendations on air transport issues and adopting standards and best practices in this field, as well as its role in assisting member states and providing them with the necessary information to develop their national policies related to air transport. The State of Qatar occupies a prestigious international position in the field of air transport and facilities and is working to move forward to ensure its improvement and development; achieve sustainability, security, and safety in this field; address all the challenges facing the aviation community; and enhance the sector's resilience to emerging risks that may affect air transport operations, such as epidemics and health crises, in addition to its constant keenness to participate in the most important conferences and to host international civil aviation events in a way that serves the achievement of all the objectives of the ICAO.
