The Shura Council participated in the meetings of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, which concluded today in the Russian capital, Moscow. Representing the Shura Council at the two-day meetings were HE Member of the Council and Vice President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Eng. Ahmed bin Hitmi Al Hitmi, and HE Member of the council Khalid bin Ahmed Al Obaidan. The meetings discussed several draft resolutions, including a draft resolution on promoting cultural diversity and protecting cultural heritage in Asia, a draft resolution on Asian integration through information and communication technology aimed at improving access to technology and enhancing cybersecurity in the face of increasing digital challenges, and a draft resolution on combating corruption. The meetings also addressed other issues, such as strengthening healthcare in Asia and developing sustainable healthcare systems, as well as the role of women parliamentarians in enhancing pol itical participation and empowering women. At the conclusion of the events, the participants issued several decisions aimed at strengthening Asian parliamentary cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, social justice, and enhancing regional peace. The Shura Council chaired the sixth Gulf Coordinating Meeting, held on the sidelines of the committee meetings, where the council reviewed the draft resolutions of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs, in addition to discussing the budget of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and implementing the proposed amendments to the core organizational documents of the assembly. The councils delegation also participated in the meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assemblys Bureau, held on the sidelines of the committee meetings. Furthermore, the Gulf group in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, led by the Shura Council, met with HE Member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Hamzaev Sultanbievich.
