Rabat, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, led a parliamentary delegation at the Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro Mediterranean and Gulf region. Speaker Ahmed bin Salman commended the strong ties between Bahrain and Morocco, congratulating Morocco on the upcoming anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI's accession. The Speaker highlighted Bahrain's commitment to environmental and climate goals, aiming for a 30% reduction in emissions by 2035 and net-zero emissions by 2060. He emphasised Bahrain's backing for entrepreneurship, particularly in supporting small and medium enterprises, as part of its Economic Vision 2030. He noted Bahrain's advancement in the 2024 World Competitiveness Ranking, underscoring the Kingdom's successful efforts to create an attractive investment environment and foster public-private partnerships. He reiterated Bahrain's firm belief in that security is a prerequisite for development and that international stability will no t be achieved if conflicts persist. In this regard, he stressed the importance of granting Palestinians their legitimate rights to establish an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution. He condemned ongoing violence against Palestinians as a major barrier to peace and development. The Speaker called on the Marrakech forum to support Bahrain's initiative for an international peace conference, announced at the 33rd Arab Summit. He underscored the forum's role as a crucial platform for political dialogue and cooperation, highlighting the potential of the Mediterranean and Gulf regions in terms of natural and human resources. He advocated for enhanced economic parliamentary diplomacy to achieve sustainable economic solutions and strategic partnerships, emphasising the importance of accelerating clean hydrogen production for long-term energy security.
