Turkiye Announces Preparations for 20 Field Hospitals to Treat Those Injured in Gaza

Ankara, The Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca announced that his country has made all preparations to establish 20 field hospitals either near the Rafah crossing or at El Arish Airport in Egypt, in order to treat injured Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

In a statement following a Turkish government meeting, Koca said that Turkiye has a medical ship ready and waiting, carrying approximately 40 ambulances, in addition to incubators, ventilators, and generators of various sizes.

The Turkish Minister indicated that a Turkish medical team consisting of 20 people, along with two general directors are already on the ground, adding that his ministry is in close contact with its Egyptian and Palestinian counterparts on the matter, and that the ministry is waiting for the security assurance and the issuance of permissions.

On the other hand, the Turkish Minister of Health described the targeting and bombing of health care workers and cancer patients and leaving them to die, a war crime, adding that the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza, established by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and donated to Palestine, currently has 80 cancer patients whose treatment was seriously disrupted due to a lack in drug supplies.

Earlier today, the Palestinian Minister of Health Dr. Mai Al Kailah announced that the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza has stopped working, as a result of Israel targeting it, in addition to fuel running out completely.

She added that the number of hospitals that stopped working as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression and the depletion of fuel has reached 16 out of 35 hospitals.
