New York - Ma'an - The United Nations said that at least 60,000 Palestinians may have fled to the western areas of the Gaza Strip, after the latest evacuation decision announced by the Israeli army a few days ago. Florencia Soto, from the Office of the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, briefed journalists at a press conference on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, according to Anadolu Agency. She added: "It is estimated that more than 80% of the Gaza Strip has been subject to Israeli evacuation orders since October of last year." On Thursday, the occupation army demanded that residents of new neighborhoods in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, forcibly evacuate them, in preparation for launching a new attack on them, four days after launching a devastating attack on areas it previously claimed were "safe" east of the city, which left 255 martyrs and widespread destruction. According to Soto, the amount of aid that can be delivered to Gaza has been cut by more than half since the beginning of M ay, after the Rafah border crossing was closed. She pointed out that an average of 169 trucks transported aid to Gaza daily last April, while their number decreased to less than 80 trucks in June and July 2024. The UN official confirmed that Israel continues to reject and obstruct humanitarian aid convoys to Gaza. Source: Maan News Agency
