Doha: April 23 - The 16th School Robotics Competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) in collaboration with the Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and supported by the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM) wrapped up on Tuesday. Abou Baker El Seddik Preparatory School for Boys won the grand championship (advanced), with Musab bin Amir Independent Secondary School for Boys in Doha being ranked first (elementary). Also, 28 awards were distributed to the teams ranked first, 21 awards to schools ranked second, as well as 21 awards to teams ranked third and included primary elementary and secondary schools. To mark this occasion, Assistant Undersecretary for Education Affairs at the MoEHE Maha Zayed Al Ruwaili hailed the superb organization of the contests, along with the excellent participation of students in all categories of the event. She added that MoEHE is committed to supporting this championship as one of the most important and pivotal educational events that primarily aim to converge programmers with superb mindsets to innovate in technology. Student Hazem Ahmed from Ahmed Ibn Hanbal Secondary School, Doha said he and his colleagues are so glad for winning the first place in the FIRST LEGO League and representing Qatar in the Arab and international contests. Students Lulua Abdulaziz Al Haydos and Sarah Ahmed Musa from Hafsa Preparatory School for Girls lauded the efforts of their trainer Dalia Al Badr which resulted in winning the third place in Sumo competition with advanced category. Sumo calibrates the learning outcomes of computer and information technology and witnessed a stellar participation from 2,150 students from both genders hailing from 216 schools and were distributed to over 700 teams.
