Chief of Staff Meets Turkish Armed Forces Deputy Chief of Staff

Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces H E Staff Lieutenant General (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad bin Aqeel Al Nabit met with Deputy Chief of the Turkish Armed Forces General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, and his accompanying delegation, who is currently visiting the country.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest and bilateral cooperation, as well as ways to enhance and develop them.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior officers from the Qatari and Turkish sides.

UN Special Coordinator for ME: all settlements are illegal under international law, must stop immediately

United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East (ME), Tor Wennesland warned against Israeli occupation’s schemes, and continued expansion of settlement, demolishing of the Palestinians’ homes and facilities, and allowing the settlers to be returned to settlements that were evacuated in 2005, asserting that “all settlements are illegal under international law, and must stop immediately.”

Wennesland pointed out in a briefing to the UN Security Council that the occupation authorities instructed to the establishment of about 310 settlement units on the Palestinian lands, while they demolished last month 33 Palestinian buildings, which caused the displacement of 89 persons and 45 children.

The UN official indicated to the increasing of the settlers’ crimes against the Palestinians and their repeated provocative storming of al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City in occupied Jerusalem.

He referred to that the Israeli recent aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip resulted in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of Palestinians, among them women and children, in addition to the martyrdom and injury of a number of Palestinians in the west Bank.

He called upon the member-states to increase their support to the Palestinians, including funding of UNRWA and the World Food Program.

“We should adopt measures not only to ensure the Palestinians’ welfare, but also as an integral part of ending the occupation based on the international law,” the UN official said.

Amiri Guard Celebrates Graduation of Security, Personal Protection Course

The Amiri Guard School celebrated Thursday in the ''Lahsaniya'' camp the graduation of the security and protection of joint constituent personalities course No. 91, and the conclusion of the first semester of the diploma in security and personal protection No. 2, in the presence of Amiri Guard Commander Lieutenant-General staff Hazza bin Khalil Al Shahwani.

At the outset of the ceremony, the Acting Commander of the Amiri Guard School Captain Mohammed Rashid Al Nuaimi delivered a speech in which he emphasized that the school had developed a modern strategy to develop training methods in the field of security and protection to bring the personnel of the courses to the highest levels of combat readiness and provide the Amiri Guard with trained competencies capable of performing tasks and duties efficiently and competently.

He stressed the importance of the security and protection course as it contributes to the development of the combat skills of the trainees, and enhances their capabilities to deal with any dangers in various emergencies, praising the distinguished level shown by the course participants during the closing presentation, which reflects their experiences and combat skills.

The trainees presented several performances on the field, which included a set of hypothetical scenarios, which began with presenting self-defense movements and the combat and defensive methods that embodied the high physical fitness levels.

Also, the trainees performed a shooting show with various weapons, where they demonstrated distinguished levels and great skill in hitting targets with dexterity and accuracy. The show also included the implementation of field formations for car convoys for the security and protection of personalities.

After the show, the general report of the session was reviewed, and then the Commander of the Amiri Guard honored the first graduates.

The graduation ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commander of the Amiri Guard, the Inspector General, assistants to the Commander of the Amiri Guard, several leaders and officers of departments and groups in the Amiri Guard, and officers from the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya). (QNA)

A tremor measuring 3.7 degree strikes north Lattakia

The National Earthquake Centre announced Thursday that a tremor measuring 3.7 degrees at the Richter scale struck northern Lattakia, in a depth of about 43km.

The Center said in a statement that the tremor occurred at 10:21 am.

Earlier, the Center announced that 8 tremors were registered during the past 24 hours, three of them northwest of Lattakia measuring between 1.5 and 2.5 degree.

Department Of Meteorology Warns of Strong Wind, High Sea Tonight

Weather inshore tonight until 6:00 am on Friday will be some clouds at times and slight dust at places, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report.

Offshore, it will be fine to some clouds, the report added, warning of expected strong wind and high sea at north.

Wind inshore will be mainly northwesterly to northeasterly 5 to 15 KT , becomes variable later.

Offshore, it will be northwesterly 05 to 15 KT, gusting 25 KT at North at first.

Visibility will be 4 to 08 kilometers.

Sea state inshore will be 1 to 3 FT, rises to 5 FT at north at first. Offshore will be 2 to 4 FT, rises to 7 FT at north at first.
