28 People Injured in Fire in Germany

German authorities announced that 28 people, including 5 individuals in critical condition, were injured in a fire that broke out in a hospital in western Germany.

The fire erupted in one of the rooms of a hospital in the town of Hemer. The hospital staff quickly started evacuating the patients from the facility.

According to preliminary reports, the five people who suffered serious injuries had inhaled smoke but did not sustain burns. They were transferred to other hospitals for necessary treatment. Additionally, one person received treatment in the intensive care unit at the same hospital, according to a spokesperson for the fire department. Among the injured are both patients and hospital staff, and the area where the fire broke out in the building is no longer usable.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the fire.

It's worth noting that at the end of May last year, eight individuals were seriously injured in a fire that broke out in a residential building in the German capital, Berlin.
