An earthquake measuring 4.4 magnitude on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Escuintla city in Guatemala on Monday. The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred 73 km from the town of Puerto San Jose in the city, and at a depth of 35 km. No human losses or material damage have been reported due to the earthquake so far. Guatemala lies on an active geological layer that often causes strong earthquakes in the countries of Central America and the Caribbean. Source: Qatar News Agency
