An earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday. The epicenter of the quake was 124 km from Lata area in the Islands, at a depth of 10 km, the US Geological Survey reported. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the tremor. The Solomon Islands are located in an area of strong seismic activity and strong earthquakes.
