5.1-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Eastern Mindoro Province in Philippines

An earthquake measuring 5.1 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Thursday the eastern Mindoro province in the Philippines.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the epicenter of the quake occurred 12 km from the Bansud municipality in the province, at a depth of one km.

There have been no reports of human losses or material damage due to the earthquake so far.

On Aug. 13, a 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Sabtang Municipality in Batanes province, northern Philippines, at a depth of 48 km.

The Philippines is subjected to volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
