Jakarta, A 6.1-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck off the coast of the Indonesian province of Gorontalo, without triggering any tsunami waves. Chinese news agency Xinhua quoted the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency as saying that epicenter of the earthquake was 77 kilometers southwest of Gorontalo city and at a depth of 132 kilometers from the seabed. The agency did not issue any warnings of a tsunami, and no damage or casualties resulting from the aforementioned earthquake. It is noteworthy, that Indonesia is an archipelago that is constantly exposed to seismic activity, as it is sits in the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is known for its exposure to earthquakes, tremors, and volcanic activity.
