An earthquake measuring 6.4 magnitude on the Richter scale hit eastern Indonesia. The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) said in a statement that the epicenter of the earthquake was 74 km away and at a depth of 145 km, southeast of Gorontalo city in North Sulawesi province, eastern Indonesia. No human losses or material damage have been reported due to the earthquake so far. BMKG said it had not detected any aftershocks, but advised residents to stay away from damaged or cracked buildings and to check homes before re-entering them to ensure the safety of buildings.
