Nuku'alofa, An earthquake measuring 6.5 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the islands of Tonga, located in the South Pacific Ocean. The German Research Centre for Geosciences said that the earthquake was at a depth of 111 km, while there have been no reports of human losses or material damage as a result of the earthquake so far. Based on available information, the US National Tsunami Warning Center said there is no threat of tsunami waves resulting from the earthquake. Tonga is an archipelago of 176 scattered islands in the South Pacific Ocean, of which only 52 are inhabited, located in northwest New Zealand and Australia. Source: Qatar News Agency
