Six soldiers from the Pakistani army, including an officer, and eight militants were killed during two separate security operations in Pakistan. According to Radio Pakistan, citing sources in the Pakistani army, the forces carried out a security operation last night in the Waziristan district, where intense exchange of fire took place, resulting in the deaths of one officer and five Pakistani soldiers, as well as six militants. Additionally, two other militants were killed and another wounded in a similar operation that took place in the Charbagh Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The sources indicated that the eight militants who were killed were involved in attacks against security forces in the area. Pakistani forces have been engaged for years in efforts to eliminate armed groups entrenched in the mountainous borders, periodically launching attacks against security personnel and civilians.
