AMAN Center Holds Awareness-Raising Campaign to Curb Violence, Familial Disintegration

Doha: The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN), one of the centers governed by the Qatar Foundation for Social Work of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, organized an interactive awareness-raising campaign to underscore the importance of reinforcing protection and social rehabilitation to curb violence and familial disintegration. Launched at Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall on Tuesday, the campaign primarily intends to familiarize the public with the most critical services the center offers to women and children, and victims of familial disintegration and violence, in addition to formulating the methods of capitalizing on these services when are potentially exposed to any forms of violence. To mark this occasion, Executive Director of AMAN Center Sheikh Dr. Nasser bin Ahmed Al-Thani, affirmed the significant of this awareness-raising campaign in shining a spotlight on the services the center affords that comprise awareness-raising activities, protection, rehabilitation and including the targeted segments in the society. He emphasized that the center pursues an all-hands-on-deck approach to create awareness-raising programs for women and children to protect them from violence. He highlighted that the center is keen to hold numerous training sessions in social protection, along with workshops to raise the awareness of , kindergarten pupils, college students, as well as various state institutions and ministries, noting the role of the protection and rehabilitation department in providing the protection and rehabilitation services for the targeted segments, either through receiving the potential cases at the center's main premises, or referring them to the external branches and other bodies. Sheikh Dr. Nasser bin Ahmed Al-Thani clarified that the center receives phone calls through the hotline 919 which operates daily around the clock, where social, psychological and legal counselling is offered, in addition to organizing field trips and rehabilitative sessions, as there are a contingent of so cial workers, psychologists, and legal experts who conduct studies and evaluations of cases, developing rehabilitation plans aimed at including targeted groups back in their families and communities, and providing subsequent and ongoing care. Director of protection department at the center, Turkiyah Al Dosari, affirmed that the center overseeing the awareness campaign to introduce the services of "Aman" in commercial complexes and various sectors across the country.
