Damascus, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, Hossein Akbari, said Thursday that the Syrian-Iranian relations are based on principles and values, affirming his country's keenness on standing by Syria and supporting it. 'Syria, like Iran, has paid precious costs during the last decades, in order to remain in the resistance axis,' Akbari said in a press conference on the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution, adding that both countries' ties are based on principles, not on economic interests. He hailed Syria's support to Iran when it has come under an unfair war. 'Syria didn't hesitate to stand by Iran despite the unjust blockade and all pressures imposed on it,' the Ambassador added.
