American Jessica Pegula, ranked sixth in the world, won the Toronto 1000 tennis tournament today by defeating her compatriot Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, to win the title for two consecutive years since 2000. Pegula won her sixth WTA title and her second this year after the Berlin tournament last June, becoming the first player to win the Canadian tournament title for two consecutive years. Pegula extended her lead in head-to-head matches over Anisimova to 3-0, her second win this year after the Charleston tournament last April. Source: Qatar News Agency
