Cairo, Adel Abdulrahman Al Asoomi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, headed the Arab Parliament's sixth Conference of Speakers of Arab Councils, Parliaments, preparatory committee meeting. The meeting aimed to prepare for the conference which will be held next Saturday in Cairo titled "A parliamentary vision for achieving safe employment of AI". The Speaker affirmed the importance of the topic of the conference, which aims to discuss one of the important issues related to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development in the Arab countries. He noted that the Arab Parliament prepared a draft document titled "A Parliamentary Vision for Achieving the Safe Employment of AI" which addresses the opportunities and challenges associated with the uses of AI in Arab countries and the role that Arab parliamentarians can have in governing its usage. Al Asoomi said that the Arab Summit to be hosted by Bahrain constitutes a qualitative leap in the process of joint action, supporting Arab issues and confronting curre nt challenges, such as those related to AI. He hailed Bahrain's policy led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in enabling safe use of AI and staying up to date with the latest developments.
