Arab League Calls on International Community to Stand by Lebanon Amid Israeli Attacks

The League of Arab States Arab League called on the international community to stand by Lebanon in the face of Israeli attacks and their repercussions, especially those targeting civilian areas. In a statement today, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, during which Israel has murdered hundreds of people and left about a million displaced, stressing that violating the country's sovereignty in this manner may lead to an expansion of the conflict. Aboul Gheit considered that a diplomatic solution is still possible in accordance with Security Council Resolution 1701, which the Lebanese government has repeatedly declared its commitment to, expressing the Arab League's solidarity with Lebanon and its people in the difficult circumstances the country is going through.
