Manama, Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, chaired the Bahrain Agriculture Development Company's (Gheras) regular board meeting. Al Mubarak emphasised Bahrain's commitment towards enhancing food security, highlighting the forward-looking national programmes and initiatives developed towards reaching that goal. The minister then went on to welcome Eng. Abdulaziz Salmeen on his appointment as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. Eng. Salmeen brings with him a rich career in the agricultural sector spanning over 14 years. Al Mubarak noted that the agricultural sector is rife with opportunities and national talents who are skilled in the use and deployment of modern agricultural techniques, that reinforce achieving the set goals in this regard. He added that company is currently executing its operational plans according to schedule, including the initiation of the first phase of its hydroponics farming project. The Board also discussed the company's ongo ing projects in partnership with the private sector in addition to recent developments in the agricultural sector. Source: Bahrain News Agency
