Bahrain, Brazil celebrate 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations

Brasília, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, participated in the Bahrain-Brazil Parliamentary Group ceremony held to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Brazil. In his speech, the Speaker affirmed parliamentary support to enhance the Bahraini-Brazilian strategic partnership and develop cooperation, in light of the interest of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He commended the strong relations between the two nations, highlighting the progress in trade volume, economic and investment exchange, and efforts to enhance educational, cultural, and tourism cooperation. Al Musallam expressed his pride and appreciation for the Brazilian National Congress' decision in 2022 to establish the Bahrain-Brazil Parliamentary Group, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties a cross various domains and fostering closer ties between Bahrain and Brazil. He emphasised the mutual commitment of the two countries to promote peace, tolerance, and human coexistence, and continuing to implement the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration in South America launched by the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence in 2020 in cooperation with the Bahraini Embassy in Brasília. The Speaker extended an official invitation to Arthur Lira, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil; Rodrigo Pacheco, President of the Brazilian Senate; members of the Joint Friendship Committee and members of the diplomatic corps in Brazil. He emphasised the importance of parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, facilitate parliamentary expertise exchange, organise bilateral events, and unify positions in international forums for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples.
