Tunis, The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), participated in the 8th Arab Conference of Directors of Nationality and Civil Status Departments at the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, which was held recently at the Secretariat's headquarters in Tunis. The Kingdom's delegation was headed by Shaikh Sabah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Director of the Identity and Population Registry Directorate, with the participation of delegations representing civil status departments in Arab countries, in addition to the League of Arab States and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. Shaikh Sabah emphasised that the participation of the Kingdom, represented by the iGA, aims at strengthening the cooperation and joint coordination with Arab countries in the field of civil status and exchanging experiences that contribute to advancing the services provided, which contributes to developing work in civil status departments and achieving the desired aspir ations. Shaikh Sabah highlighted that the conference reviewed the successful experience of the Kingdom managing work in civil status departments in the seventh conference, and its commitment to developing the system of services provided by employing modern programmes. This is in addition to efforts to develop technical programmes and modern devices that support efforts to combat document forgery, due to the sensitive nature of documents and data recorded in official records. The conference reviewed the experiences of some member states in the field of managing work in the departments of nationality and civil status and emphasised the importance of digital transformation and the positive results resulting from providing services electronically and accelerating access to those services. Proposals included the need to use modern technologies and advanced information systems that allow for securing civil documents, in addition to calling for the importance of unifying Arab security models and devices, as well a s the importance of exchanging visits among member states to share expertise and learn about successful experiences.
