JeddahAmbassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al Sayed, Chief of Human Rights Affairs and Member of the Permanent Independent Commission for Human Rights, participated in the meeting of the 23rd regular session of the Permanent Independent Commission for Human Rights of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), under the title: "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Human Rights: Challenges and Opportunities". This participation comes within the framework of activating Bahrain's membership in the Permanent Independent Commission for Human Rights, which the Kingdom won during the elections held on the sidelines of the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Nouakchott, Mauritania, last year. The election of Bahrain reflects the confidence of the member states of the OIC in the achievements of the Kingdom in the field of promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms, and its commitment to human rights standards at the regional and international levels. D r. Al Sayed emphasised Bahrain's keenness in protecting and promoting human rights, which represents the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the achievements made by the Kingdom in the human rights field. She also touched on the opportunities and challenges that accompanied the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its effects on human rights, affirming Bahrain's commitment to coordination and cooperation with the OIC to benefit from the opportunities offered by AI and deal with related challenges.
