Biden Stresses US Efforts to Prevent Lebanon-Israel Conflict Escalation, to Reach Ceasefire in Gaza

United States President Joe Biden said that the US will work to prevent the expansion of the conflict along the border between Lebanon and Israel, noting that a diplomatic solution is still possible in the Lebanese-Israeli conflict. During his last address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as US President, Biden warned the 79th session of the potential outbreak of a full-scale war between Israel and Lebanon, asserting that such a war would not be in the interest of any party. Touching on the war in the Gaza Strip, the US President said that innocent civilians are living in hell, thus, stressing that it is time for all parties to agree on a deal regarding Gaza. He added that coordination continues between his country, the State of Qatar, and Egypt to reach an agreement aimed at halting military operations in Gaza and releasing the detainees, explaining that progress toward peace would strengthen the US position in facing regional challenges, especially in relation to Iran. Biden said that one of his main priorities before the end of his term is to end the war between the Israeli entity and Hamas in Gaza, though negotiations for a ceasefire are still facing difficulties. Moreover, the US President called for an end to the war in Sudan. Biden reiterated his support for Ukraine, urging the world to follow suit, saying that the world must choose whether to continue its support for Ukraine or turn away from this aggression. He also noted that the upcoming meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House will allow for discussions on important issues related to security and stability in the region.
