Cairo, The 22nd session of the Arab Conference of Heads of Punitive and Correctional Institutions will kick off Monday in Cairo. The two-day event will bring together representatives of Arab interior and justice ministries, the Arab League (AL), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, as well as officials of the general secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council. The conference is set to tackle several key topics, including alternative penalties for ones restricting freedom, the effect of freedom-restricting penalty on family coherence, along efforts of member states to provide social insurance for prisoners and their families, Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported. The general secretariat will refer the recommendations of the conference to the upcoming session of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council to take action in this regard. Source: Bahrain News Agency
