The US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces successfully destroyed three Houthi uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen over the Gulf of Aden. CENTCOM said in a statement that its forces successfully destroyed one Houthi uncrewed surface vessel (USV), one Houthi uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV), and one Houthi anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) in the Red Sea. The statement stressed that these weapons presented a clear and imminent threat to US and coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region, noting that this dangerous behavior by Houthis continues to threaten regional stability and security. In December 2024, Washington formed a multinational coalition to protect maritime traffic in the Red Sea, after the Houthi group announced that it was targeting ships linked to the Israeli entity in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, then expanded its operations to include vessels linked to the US and UK, after the two countries carried out strikes against their site s in Yemen.
