China launched a new Earth observation satellite today using a Long March-4B carrier rocket. The Gaofen-11 05 satellite was launched at 11:03 AM (Beijing time) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in Shanxi province, northern China, and successfully entered its planned orbit. According to Xinhua News Agency, the satellite will be used for land surveys, urban planning, road network design, crop yield estimation, and disaster relief.
