CRA Ensures Consumers Access Advanced and High-Quality Telecom Services

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) approved about 29,000 requests between 2019-2022 that support the development of the telecom infrastructure in the State of Qatar.

In addition to approving 1,068 requests to build new mobile sites, CRA also gave 21,215 approvals for non-objection requests to open roads for fixed infrastructure works through the Qatar Permit Road Opening (Q-PRO) system, in collaboration with relevant authorities in the State of Qatar. Furthermore, CRA handled 4,390 requests via the Qatar Online Design Review System (Q-DRS), and via the Duct Management System (DMS), CRA handled 2,116 requests related to the use of government telecom infrastructure.

Ali Al Suwaidi, CRA's Technical Affairs Department Director said: "The State of Qatar has a high-level telecom infrastructure, which contributes to the success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. This infrastructure is represented by a fiber-optic network that has achieved the goals of the comprehensive coverage strategy for all houses in Qatar, as well as mobile networks where the coverage rate of Fourth Generation technology (4G and 4G Advanced) reached around 100%, and the coverage rate of the Fifth Generation (5G) network reached around 96%."
