Ramallah - Ma'an - The activist Sami Muslim passed away this morning, Thursday, at the age of 77. Muslim was born in Jerusalem in 1947, studied at the Evangelical Lutheran School in Jerusalem, and Beit Jala in 1965, and obtained an intermediate certificate in literature from Birzeit College in 1967. He obtained a BA in Political Studies from the American University of Beirut in 1969, an MA in Political Studies and International Relations from the American University of Beirut in 1971, and a PhD from the University of Bonn in Germany in 1975. At the beginning of his life, he worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Political Studies and Public Administration at the American University of Beirut, then joined the Institute for Palestine Studies in Beirut in 1972. He managed the Palestinian Information Center in Bonn, Germany (which later became the Palestinian Representation) in the years 1973-1976. He served as Acting Director of the PLO Diplomatic Mission in Beijing, China, from 1977 to 1979, t hen as Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Beirut and Tunis until 1985, then as Director of the Office of the President of the State of Palestine in Tunis until 1993. He was Director General of the Office of the President of the State of Palestine in Tunis from 1993 to 1995. He was Director General of the Office of the President of the National Authority in Jericho from 1995 to 2003. He served as Deputy President of the Presidential Office, Office of the President of the National Authority 2003-2005, Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley 2005-2008, and later as Governor of Salfit. He was active in the Palestinian student movement and joined the Fatah movement in Lebanon in 1968, then devoted himself to the movement since 1973. He held several leadership positions in it, and has been a member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah since 1989, and a member of the National Council since 1991. Source: Maan News Agency
