Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced that the aid provided by its Department of Zakat Affairs during May 2024 reached QR 15,028,552 and that 650 families eligible for assistance in the State of Qatar benefited from it. In this context, Head of Zakat disbursements section Mohammed Hassan Al Tamimi stated that the Department's assistance is of two types. One that is extended to families monthly to help them with their needs for food, drink and housing, which amounted to QR 6,798,225, while the second is a lump sum aid, which is donated to families once according to need, amounted to QR 8,230,327. All the money is disbursed by the Department of Zakat Fund to eligible registered families in accordance with legally specified controls and purposes and approved mechanisms. He pointed out that the Department's assistance contributes to ensuring a decent life for deserving families within the country. He explained that the Zakat disbursements section offers the service of applying for assis tance to deserving families through the Department's website (www.zakat.gov.qa).
