Earthquake of 4 Magnitude Strikes Southern Iran

An earthquake measuring four on the Richter scale struck on Sunday the Bushehr province in southern Iran. According to the Iranian Seismological Center, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, at 28.31 degrees north latitude and 49.99 degrees east longitude. There have been no reports of material or human losses as a result of the earthquake so far. Iran is highly prone to earthquakes due to its location in an active seismic zone, the most violent of which was a 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck northwest of the country in 1990, killing 37,000 and wounding 100,000.
