Earthquake of 7.1 Magnitude Strikes Southwestern Japan, Tsunami Warning Issued

A strong earthquake measuring 7.1 magnitude on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Miyazaki Prefecture and other areas in southwestern Japan today. Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 30 km. JMA issued tsunami warnings for the islands of Kyushu, Miyazaki and other prefectures in the southwest of the country. A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the Fukushima region in northeastern Japan on April 4, 2023.
